CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Reports (MMWR) are authored by career scientists and serve to inform doctors, researchers and the public about how #COVID19 is spreading and who is at risk. Historically, these reports have have had NO political interference—they shouldn’t!
Caputo's team tried to BLOCK some reports, including on #hydroxychloroquine. The report—held for a month after Caputo’s team raised questions about authors’ political leanings—was published last week: "the potential benefits of these drugs do not outweigh their risks."
In one clash, an aide to Caputo berated CDC scientists for attempting to use the reports to "hurt the President" in an 8/8 email to CDC Director Robert Redfield and other officials that was widely circulated inside CDC.

CDC officials have fought efforts to retroactively change reports but have increasingly allowed Caputo & team to review them before publication. Caputo also helped install CDC’s interim chief of staff, so Caputo would have more visibility into CDC.
