Thread on fixture scheduling this season.

It could get very busy if a side is successful on multiple fronts.

Firstly, expect rotation. Any side successful on multiple fronts likely to rotate far more than in previous seasons. I've broken down the games #LFC play per month as things stand. TV rescheduling likely to move games into next or previous month. Currently though, see below...

Max possible 4 rescheduled fixtures* due to
1. Carabao Cup Final
2. FA Cup QF
3. FA SF
4. FA Final

3 current available midweeks to reschedule fixtures:
-Mar 2/3
-Apr 20/21 (midweek after FA QF)
-May 18/19 (midweek after FA SF)

NB
*UEFA rules prevent league matches on CL/Europa nights unless no alternative available.

Something to remember as Man City & Utd already have 1 fixture to reschedule.

The fixtures possibly rescheduled:

1. Carabao Cup Final = LFC v Shef U A; City v West Ham H

2. FA Cup QF = LFC v Chelsea H; City v Wolves H

3. FA Cup SF = LFC v Leeds A; City v Villa A

4. FA Cup Final = LFC v Burnley A; City v Brighton A

Included what additional fixtures may be, based on the current Cups scheduling. Only changes expected from TV rescheduling & maybe CV19.

Guessing 4th rescheduled game if required would likely be played in the alternate midweek of the CL16 2nd leg 9/10 or 16/17 Mar

Reschedules all hypothetical
-3rd rnd FA Cup loss = 2 extra free slots 23/24 Jan (4th rnd) & 9/10 Feb (5th rnd)
-Carabao Cup loss (3rd or 4th rnds) = 2 extra free slots 22/23 Dec (CC QF) [highly unlikely to be used] & 5/6 Jan (CC SF) more likely for City & Utd GW1 fixtures

Assumption made in the above is that the rescheduled fixtures will be in the same order as the original schedule. Often not case as fan notice period normally 3 weeks & other clashing local fixtures/events come into consideration. Assumption made for illustrative purposes.

LFC played 57 games last season (18/19 53). 62 games isnt a concern. The condensed nature of the schedule isn't ideal for recovery but game management when ahead was a key strength last season. I expect we'll similar. Team cohesion when rotating will be a key factor for success.
