That didn’t deter China hawks on Trump team. But Trump admin was pressured to act tough w Russia which led to worsening US-Russian relation. So now US have antagonized BOTH China and Russia

But Trump team understand something that Democratic Resistance crowd doesn’t: outside liberal establishment talking heads, very few ave American bought into Russiagate or thinks Russia poses a threat to US. But China for variety of reasons taps into deepest American anxiety/fear
