A THREAD: We no longer have three co-equal branches of government.
I'm not sure when we had more than an illusion of checks and balances, thanks to decades of corrupt, self-serving manipulations of law and policy, while we citizens were content to that the Keepers were acting in good faith.
But regardless of when or how it happened, our federal government is now an open, suppurating wound in the body of a nation whose immune system is attacking itself.
"We the people" were meant to be that immune system. Social media, corrupted, profit-above-all news media, malicious oligarchic influencers, and foreign governments have turned us on each other, convincing many that healthy, functioning organs are The Enemy.
All these together constitute a deadly divide-and-conquer virus that has brought that immune system to its knees. We are made weak. Infections like Trumpism have exploited that weakness.
If left unchecked, that infection masquerading as government WILL spread. The antibiotics of Congressional oversight and, increasingly, our judicial system, have already failed.
There is no cure, but there IS a therapeutic, and we each have ONE DOSE.
VOTE.
America can heal if we can learn how to work together, but first it must be saved.
