Bush addressed the nation from the Oval Office. Here’s the video:

“A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America.”
After the speech was over, I walked with the POTUS to the PEOC (Presidential Emergency Operations Center), the bunker underneath the WH. When we got there, USSS had long guns out. I couldn’t believe it. In the safest of safe places, they were armed like I never saw before.
What a day. What a night. I have no idea what time I got home. That’s what I did on September 11, 2001. May God Bless those who lost their lives that day. May God Bless their families. And may God Bless the United States of America.
