Okaaaaay, #wtfock's season 4 episode two's done. And I still don't know jack shit what this season's all about, tbh. Like, what's the focus? Season one's about isolation and identity. Season two's about falling for someone you know's trouble and the topic of sexual assault 1/11
Season three's sexuality and identity. Usually, Season four's about religion, spirituality, and alienation. But since they're postponing Yasmina's season, #wtfock instead introduced Kato. Soooo what the hell is this season supposed to be about? Who's Kato? What's her shame? 2/11
Skam usually introduces a new central POV every season and by the end of episode one, you should have a slight grasp on what's to come. #wtfock has spent episode one setting up. Like, the whole episode sets a bunch of layers that it just turned into a setup chapter 3/11
and not an episode where you have a definite beginning, middle, and end. It's like a ramp forever going up. By the end of the episode, I asked myself what the hell is this season's trying to tell? Is this about dealing with fame? Is this about...4/11
Honestly, that's the only theme that pops up in my mind right now. I feel like they're showing us Kato, but they're not showing us HER point of view. Two episodes in and I still don't know what to make of her. I can't connect with her. Is she genuinely happy to be 5/11
acquaintances with the girl squad or is she just forced by circumstance? What the heck did she say to Moyo? (Vice versa, for that matter.) Why does she flip between throwing googly eyes at him and rejecting his ass. With. In. A. Single. Episode? 6/11
Her character, I think, suffers from the Reactor Syndrome ™. Like, she just reacts to the plot instead of moving the plot herself. And the plot's all murky as hell right now. Granted it's only just begun but I don't know if it's gonna hold my attention long enough to 7/11
find the time to finish the season. Don't get me wrong, it's still entertaining as hell. Unlike SkamFr, #wtfock's original season still feels like the show I know. SkamFr just dialed up the melodramatics up to an unrealistic level right off the bat of their 5th season 8/11
that the show became unrecognizable. Say what you want about SkamFr being all dramatic since its conception but their original seasons just felt like a different show altogether. I'm relieved #wtfock still keeps their unique charm even though they've done two 9/11
original storylines now (wtfockDOWN and then this season). Like I've said, it's still entertaining as hell, Kato and Moyo's chemistry is undeniable, but entertainment value is a finite resource, sooner or later we would need the plot to step up and keep the story moving. 10/11
I don't want a repeat of season three where the first two episodes are technically the same and you'd need to wait another week for the real plot to begin. By now, we should be asking ourselves "Omg, what's gonna happen next?" and not "What the hell's even happening?"
