1/4 Oregon had 21,350 business establishments employing 232,600 jobs in current wildfire evacuation zones (as of the morning of 9/11) spanning across 13 different counties in Oregon. That nears Oregon's entire private health care industry in size http://bit.ly/ORFireZonesJobs911
2/4 Clackamas Co. has both largest # of jobs in Level 3 wildfire evacuation areas (10,000) and across all evacuation levels (166,000). Jackson jobs at all levels total 37,300, with 4,000 in Level 3. Marion has 3rd highest in all (13,100); Lincoln 3rd highest in Level 3 (2,100).
3/4 In just the Level 3 areas, the largest numbers of jobs come from natural resources and mining (3,700). That makes sense given the geography of wildfires. Yet, natural resources and mining made up 4% of all jobs in 3Q2019, but 18% of Level 3 evacuation area jobs.
Data note: to get this level of geography, we have to use Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages data, which comes on a lag. These estimates use jobs numbers from this time last year, 3Q2019. More details at http://bit.ly/ORFireZonesJobs911. We'll update these numbers in coming days.
