... among reporters where there appears to be more interest in one-upping than telling an important story. Can get gross if your beat is one where bad things are happening to vulnerable people... (obviously not everyone who is scoopy does this!)
Also, not all scoops are alike. And not all scoops are good.

Just to clarify: I’m not saying all scoops are bad. I think it’s more the culture that values *only* scoops can be a tad toxic and also do disservice to journalism!
