Got rekt 2014, had small debt needed to work at shop to pay and buy-back (MMO gambling).
Lost 45k/50k late 2015 due to a cascade of bad gambling-related decisions.
Lost 90% net worth in 2018 holding $ALTS.
Survived up to now, like to think the odds it happens again are slim. https://twitter.com/Capiro31411638/status/1304539772594073600

That being said, I do trust my abilities to not go completely bankrupt, ever (I know, sounds cocky).
1) When I cash out of $crypto, I don't buy-back with the dollars, ever. Saved me from bankruptcy in 2018.
2) Taxes: I don't spend my money earned a given year before paid.

3) Trading: diligent risk management for every account, know how to keep risk of ruin neutralized.
4) Counter-party risk: cold storages, no easy access to them, keep as little as required on exchanges.
5) opsec: different email and pw everywhere, no phone links, yubikey 2FA...

I answered because this claim isn't 'dumb': one black swan kind of event can ruin a life / career. There's randomness involved everywhere. You can be resilient, work hardand smart, stack odds on your side, but shit happens. Be aware of the risks, be 'odd' on the long run.
