It's very weird how quickly the political media pretty much accepted as normal the idea that the president would show concern only for the states that matter to him in the electoral college.

California has more Republicans than Florida, but thanks to the electoral college, Trump barely knows they're alive unless they're writing checks. And everyone just sort of accepts it. Until a Democrat's in office again, of course.

During most fire seasons, it's largely his voters he's ignoring.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, “He only cares about his voters” isn’t even accurate. He’s far more mercenary than that.

Of course, historically, when he notices, it's not exactly helpful.
