1) #LGBT Twitter: We need to have a conversation about putting our money where our mouth is. Today my publisher released our sales metrics and what it means for our publications going forward to 2022. The big takeaway: no more fantasy books. Sci-fi/fantasy aren't selling. At all.
2) You guys, we have a global population larger than the US and UK, COMBINED. I know we have millions of sci-fi/fantasy fans. I say this all the time, but if we don't buy content, it stops getting created. This is the exact proof of that.
3) As a fantasy writer, this is devastating. I refuse to believe that the only market out there is for romance. We all said we wanted the lesbian version of Harry Potter, right? So why won't we buy it?
4) It's not about me or my publisher. It's about what books we want to be on the shelves for the next generation. Queer and like #fantasybooks? Please buy them. An #ally to the queer community? Please buy them. Otherwise don't be surprised when they disappear.
5) Finally, humbly, I would suggest that #fantasy-centric TV LGBT fandoms like the #Earpers or the fans of #MotherlandFortSalem could help w/this problem. Community means we chip in wherever help is needed, and lesbian fantasy books need help. It's not TV, but content is content.
