Autism presents itself in many different ways, but I worry verbal Autistic people who don't have a learning disability, qualify for an Education, Health and Care plan or are unknown to social services may fall through the cracks of Autistic service provision.
Having low-moderate Autism support and self-care needs may sometimes be deemed less of a priority for commissioning bodies to invest funding for support services
The anxiety, awkwardness and sensory sensitivities supposedly "higher-functioning" Autistic people experience may not be noticed until they manifest as severe mental illnesses. How can we engage in preventative mental health care for Autistic people without learning disabilities?
What are the life outcomes of Autistic people who have the intellect to pursue further education but can't due to difficulties managing social fatigue from daily interactions, environmental stressors & struggles with executive function? Can these skills be taught?
Let me know! - Autistic ppl w/o learning disabilities. What are the key barriers to you living, working, studying or socialising? What services do you wish existed & what skills do you need assistance developing to ensure you can operate at your greatest & healthiest capacity?
