Let’s be honest, if there was a referendum on mass immigration in 1996 it would’ve been a landslide for “no thanks”. The reason the subject is, and will remain, a political hot potato is that the electorate was never consulted.
And if anyone thinks that is racist, jog on. I’m not against immigration. But inviting 3-400000 people here every year ad infinitum without a single recourse to the demos is fucked up. There has never been an alternative policy put into action by Labour or the Tories since 1997.
“Rubbing the Right’s noses in diversity” could have worked if there was an infrastructure plan. There wasn’t and never has been.
