I’ve not had chance to listen/watch/read everything on it, but it seems to me that there’s a massive overreaction to NZ “losing” the rugby hosting?

It was a bid process, yes? Meaning we were one potential option. We were not owed this tournament. Why was that the default view?
And why are we so angry we didn’t get it? Obvious economic impact aside? Is it a reaction to the Government’s response? A starved sports fan thing? Or a realisation that rugby doesn’t necessarily always have to equal New Zealand?
