To anyone who feels that they have problematic parents (not talking about physically abusive ones): THREAD.
Firstly, i am really sorry that you are going through this but here are some things you can do-
TALK TO THEM! Share your issues with them instead of sharing them online. Tell them whatever is bothering you and what effect does it have on your mental health! I am sure they (1/n)
will definitely understand. Funny how we keep talking about sharing our issues with others but don’t share it with our own parents who are the MOST concerned about us. I understand that you have fights with parents that may take a toll on your mind, trust me we all (2/n)
do too. However, sharing it online won’t help. Instead of cribbing about the problem try to find a solution to it. If, you aren’t comfortable talking to your parents about it, talk to your close friends or cousins, whoever understands you well but please DO NOT (3/n)
shame them online. They have certainly not raised you to find them being insulted publicly by you. The lack of understanding owing to the generational gap is as difficult for them to adapt to as is for us. Another thing posting online will do is
(4/n)
get you comments from people having similar problems and it will normalise it in your head than doing you any other good. Lastly, according to what i have observed this far is that 99% people shaming their parents here are in the age group of 16-19 and i understand that (5/n)
your parents might have given you trauma unknowingly but you cannot move out right now isn’t it? You will ofcourse become independent and successful enough to afford a separate house for yourself in future but it isn’t possible at this moment. (6/n)
You will have to live w them for some years so better try to mend it from your end? And be a bit more grateful and respectful towards them as well?
Please share it with people who you think this might help. Thankyouu. (N/n)
