/ Home on Christmas break of knob year at The Citadel I met up with the upperclassman who had given me a ride home (Petra Lovetinska) in NYC, where her parents were.
/ We met uptown and set out to do touristy things like seeing the top of the Empire State Building - but being young, with lively legs and terrible sense of direction - we way overshot our mark and ended up all the way down by the WTC.
/ And anyway, we did the whole head-to-the-top thing. And I sprung for the commemorative photos and everything. I'm usually so cheap, no idea why I bought this, but really glad I did.
/ We had no idea that what would happen here mere months later would shape the lives and careers of nearly everyone Petra and I knew, both in NY/ NJ, at The Citadel, and beyond.
/ In 2015 I had the privilege of getting to know Captain Billy Burke's family at the inaugural @Tunnel2Towers 1 WTC stair climb in his name.
