I’m going to explain to you guys why this is so important to me. I am a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. My rapes began at 4/5 years old at the hand of an older family member. That lasted for a few years and then my babysitters and dads girlfriend began abusing me.
I was then raped again at 17 BY A POWERFUL MAN IN HOLLYWOOD. Yes, I’m aware that it happens.
But here’s the thing, spreading conspiracies is actually HURTING our fight to end the abuse and trafficking of children. And hang on while I explain this. YALL DON’T REALLY CARE ABOUT CHILDREN. And now you’re like, “wow, I care about children”. But, do you?
Here’s the thing, each year there are millions of children being trafficked each year world wide. And you know what for, forced labor to mine minerals for our stupid iPhone batteries. To work in factories for our fast fashion. To mass produce the junk toys our kids play with.
Meanwhile here in the US millions of children are being abused. And do you know by who? PEOPLE THEY KNOW! It’s your neighbor, soccer coach, dad, brother, boyfriend/girlfriend or teacher.
And they throw out these inflammatory claims like, “800,000 children go missing in the US each year” without then adding that 99% make it home right after. And while even 1% is too high, let’s look at who those kids are.
It’s the LGBTQIA+ kid who’s parents hate them for being gay. It’s the teenage girl who doesn’t want to have her baby. They are running from their fucked up and abusive families.
And while yes, children get sex trafficked in the US, lets look at the Jeffrey Epstein situation. Where were those girls parents?!!!
Each year there are reportedly less than 150 stranger abductions in the US. Very few children are getting snatched off the streets or from our malls and being trafficked.
So here’s the thing, you want to care about kids? Then care about healthcare. Care about mental healthcare. Care about education. Care about a living wage. Care about addiction treatment. Care about the things those “terrible dems” care about bc that’s what what stops abuse.
And I want to be clear when I say y’all, I mean me too. I love a new iPhone each year. I love my Zara. But we can’t keep consuming like this when it’s harming so many.
So at the end of the day all of these conspiracies are allowing us to pretend that the monsters are something other than ourselves. But we are the monsters. They live in our houses, work in our churches, in our schools and we just simply don’t want to believe that.
And I get it, it is so much easier to live with our heads in the sand and pretend that we’re not apart of the problem. But it is time to wake the fuck up.
