My hierarchy of "good politics" in a democracy would look rather like the below.

My take here is that the level 0, and the one that I have a greater problem with is following the party line, and party men or partisan thinking people.

My distaste for it is almost inborn.

I have a strong problem with American politics because wearing a mask, prescribing HCQ to patients sick of covid and similar such stuff have become a partisan statement. Spanish politics is not very different but at least there are 4 national parties.

British politics betters the US one in that their elections are like 650 local elections, and the "first past the post" system allows for a greater room for unexpected men, out of the party line, to emerge because they are liked by their constituents.

But loyalty to a men is also fragile ground.

What if you like a man, but he is wrong on a particular issue?

Or not even wrong, but your interest in that topic is not aligned with his?

This is why we should be deciding over ISSUES, and ISSUES only.

Swiss politics is world class treating political stakes as ISSUES, and making parties and men irrelevant into the equation.
What are the only disadvantages in the system?
I will name 3 and you will decide by yourself if those are really disadvantages.

Disadvantage number 1:

Swiss politics is BORING as hell.

So if you see politics as a way of entertainment, as so many people do, you will need to look for it outside of your own country (so Romands with a taste for politics watch French Television).

Disadvantage number 2:

"Great Men" such as Charles De Gaulle are unlikely to ever emerge in the Swiss political arena: the whole point of the collegiate governance system is made in order to belittle them.

Maybe just a corollary of disadvantages number 1 and number 2, but here I go.

Disadvantage number 3:

Swiss politics makes it very hard to identify your "ENEMIES".

So it might not be properly aligned with something that I believe is a human trait.

PS. I doubted for a second about including lack of transparency as third disadvantage: the deliberations of the directories that govern Switzerland are as secret as the ones of Chinese PC, but I don't think this is a real disadvantage.
