I was starting 6th grade in NYC when 9/11 happened.
The elevators to our school were shut off and the only way to get out was to take the stairs.
Then I spent weeks combing through newspapers reading stories about the disabled people who were left to die.

Of weeks later I was left in my school during a drill and told that in the event of a real emergency, I would be left in the building to “wait for help.”
And now during the pandemic, you all have done the same thing: left disabled people to die.
