Let's begin with Guac. He's the sleekest of the squad. He's pretty soft, but the sleekness gets in the way of having an oh-so-soft cloud of fur to get lost in. More smooth than soft. He's a 5/10 on the SDSI

Next, Swizzle. She was pretty fluffy and her fur was pretty soft, though dogs who went through tough lives before us and had skin problems are sometimes missing the softest of the soft fur. She's a 7 on the SDSI

SCHMIEG was just a notch softer and fluffier than Swiz, though they were quite similar. Schmieg gets an 8!

Jasmine was a bit less fluffy. She also had a lot of skin problems in her previous life so was missing some soft soft undercoat. She's a 6/10

Chief Brody has really bad allergies, so no undercoat because his poor skin suffered. His top layer of fur is more on the coarse side for a golden. But he's also QUITE fluffy! He's a 5/10

Boyfren Riley was so soft! I miss his fur so much! He was also pretty fluffy, though he had a little wave of coarser fur across his back SDSI: 7

Hopper is SO SO soft! Her chest fur (when we can get her to stay dry for 5 minutes) is like a cloud. She's also pretty fluffy, especially if you count fur that hangs down as fluff. We award her a 10/10 on the SDSI!

Queso once tried on sled dog booties and did not like it one bit. Not an aspiring sled dog. But she was very soft. Her ears were like velvet. Also had some floof but wasn't ostentatious about it. SDSI 7/10
St. Patrick has his own booties. Not sled dog booties, but he likes them anyway. He's our only non-golden and his fur is very wiry. He still pulls off a lot of fluffiness (he's shaggy, fluffy, fantastic). He's our least soft dog, but still at the top of our hearts. SDSI 3/10
Finally, Venkman. If a golden retriever ever wanted to be a sled dog, Venk is it. She wears her booties with pride. She is also the softest dog on earth. She's like the inside of your pillow. She looks silly in her booties because she's so floofy. She's SDSI ∞/10
