Anti-Muslim hate didn't begin on 9/11 but it created the structural & institutional framework for our communities to surveilled, spied on, profiled, tortured, entrapped. On the ground, we were spat on, mosques were burnt down, children were bullied and our women were harassed.
This is just surface level. The intersectionality of such programs targeted Black folks & Black Muslims. People who were Sikh & Hindu and "brownish" were hurt. The complexities of such policies harmed marginalized communities for generations. Pick up a book. Read beyond Twitter.
For example: There is so much more here that needs to be acknowledged that I didn't include in my first tweet. Read from those Black Muslims and experts who know best: https://twitter.com/schanmalik/status/1304434018197409792?s=20
