The "I don't want politics in my sports" and the "shut up and dribble" crowd are definitely the people who would have booed and hurled racial slurs at Jackie Robinson when he broke the color barrier in MLB.
The MAGA sportsbros and broettes are the people who hated Muhammad Ali in his prime for telling the truth about the United States and only loved him again when Parkinson's took his voice away.
I'd respect the "I don't want politics in my sports" crowd a little bit more if they'd just be honest:

They don't see black people or athletes as worthy of respect and the only value they provide to them is entertainment via their labor.
