okay y'all. Content warnings exist for a REASON. if you are gonna share anything- especially IMAGES- especially images of people DYING- especially images of people dying in an event that left a number of people with trauma disorders- CONTENT WARNING THAT SHIT.
If you are gonna talk about ‘remembering’ an event, I need you to first and foremost remember that a whole lot of people survived it, and they are on Twitter, and their well-being matters more than you stimulating your amygdala.
You want to honour and commemorate those who died? Fine. Do it by respecting those who lived.
A warning doesn’t just mean somebody gets an extra three seconds to prepare themselves to see something, although that’s helpful. Online- particularly on Twitter- y’all can mute anything that references an event or word, and a c/w will let you avoid seeing something completely.
“But, Madeline! Shouldn’t we force people to see things, so we Remember Them?”

Hell no. That’s what my nightmares are for. Gtfo.

And what are you remembering, anyways? That it happened- or that you were scared and angry?
You don’t need a photo to remember. All that photo does is resurrect emotions. As long as you’re ripping that emotional scab open- year on year- you’re not healing. You’re forcing yourself to stay angry and hateful. Which is.... not healthy.
