What is a Mimesis Trap?
might as well make a THREAD below on the topic
i dont wish death on my enemies, i wish on that they become victims to "mimesis traps". https://twitter.com/GRITCULT/status/1304360867300073472

what is a mimesis trap ?
it stems from the mimetic rivalry aspect of mimetic theory.
a trap is when people get stuck, a mimesis trap is where people get trapped in mimetic rivalry

from first principles:
twitter is a "social media"
and mimetic rivalry is a social phenomenon.
social media is a trap for this.

social media is a trap for this.
social animals like to keep up with the joneses. always try to "stunt" or engage in tribal arguments online with people much like themselves
if you argue with a fool, from a distance you both look like fools.
this is what twitter has been reduced to.

all too often, we hear how people have gotten into debt due to this. people are getting into debt because they out loans so they can stunt on instagram, the same is true on twitter... you are not that intellectual... you argue because you like to masturbate your ego.
so you need to look at yourself in the mirror, if all your online social media compadres are weird autists who spend all day online "trolling" and "baiting".
the intelligent among us, use mimetic rivalry to surround ourselves with good people we like to emulate.

as iron sharpen iron, so too does man sharpen man. my favourite bible verse and proverb. but the sad reality is that as more people enter a social media, the more "average" it becomes. many notice as they grow account size, the interactions decrease in value. a law of nature.
social media is religious in nature. religions are a social network.
every week there is a new event there is a new "scapegoat" a new outrage the masses throw their tweets at. this week its a netflix movie, next week itll be something else.
tribalism never changes.

most people on twitter are very simple minded, i may even call them simps. they are simps for "tribes" they simp for the wanting to fit in... they want a tribe, a mannerbund. these are basic human needs, sure.
but they make you fall into "mimetic traps"
but they make you fall into "mimetic traps"
the "other" which is others online become a misrecognised ideal. thus they are stuck in lacans mirror stage. looking at a false self, no introspection, because their identity is misshaped.
their ego becomes attached to this false identity. they become trapped within theirself.

to link lacanian psychoanalysis with a girardian analysis of dorian gray.
what social media is to the common man is what the picture of dorian gray is to dorian gray.
a false idealised self that holds you prisoner.

a concluding statement summarising the above:
"twitter is not real life"
