Just noticed that the chalk pit in this image resembles the heart in a well-ab'ed torso..
Important to note that not all hedges are/were lost through being ripped up.
Some are lost through being cut to the same height year in year out.
Some are lost through lack of any management - hedge turns into a line of trees that slowly topple.
