Some interesting takeaways in the @ft interview with Radrizanni:
He is actively pursuing the CFG model of creating a network of clubs to develop footballers for #lufc and also to bolster revenue through player sales. Looking ahead, the only way to compete at the upper tier without long term significant owner investment
(Which is multiple hundreds of million a year) is to look at revenue generation outside of TV money and sponsorship. Large scale player development is one way to do that and equally will allow for enhanced development of the playing squad and ingraining a football philosophy
For someone with a sales and marketing background there are also obvious synergies across a club network, alongside broader cost savings over time. A sensible approach then without massive sovereign wealth fund or oligarch investment. Liverpool/FSG are also looking at a similar
Model, so highlights the direction of travel for the elite clubs.
On the broader financials, club revenue should be in the ÂŁ120-150m range excluding any matchday revenue. Wage bill will have increased massively but should be sustainable even at these levels. Club has indicated they would be operating at ÂŁ200m revenues in the first year which
Would be the case in a normalised environment. One of the key routes to boosting revenues further would be the expansion of the ground and a boost in matchday revenue. 10,000 extra seats at ÂŁ50 a match over 19 matches is another ÂŁ9.5m of revenue which excluded any hospitality.
That is also likely conservative. An enhanced match day offering on the commercial side will also boost revenue and increase dwell time pre-match.
Not too surprised the club are looking at factoring for some of the TV revenue given current squad investment. Both quantum and structure will be very different to Ridsdale so it doesn't concern me and is a sensible way of maximising cash flow in this challenging season.
In general, an ambitious and exciting path for #lufc to compete with the big 6 over time and one which isn't reliant on oil money. Just need to stay up now....
