Important to remember, as many folks have pointed out, the larger point to this (long-running) debate: how, in this country, Sino-centric or -proximate cuisines are exalted, while those judged Malay or South Asian are arbitrarily associated with social and biological deviancy.

If there's a silver lining to all this, it's that minorities now know what to do to prevent local media from fanning moral panics about their cuisines.
