i think it's good that #cuties exist. but before you start to mass block me, hear me out:
i think the reason why so many people are so extremely raging against this movie is that it shows a piece of reality they're simply not really aware about. this kids exist and are the product of a hypersexualized, 24/7 live streaming society.
many of those who are literally fuming about don't even have daugthers and are not aware of what they are confronted with. they don't need no woke netflix show to think such things are totally normal. go on youtube kids.
shows with 5yo girls dressed up as disney princesses getting showered with toys. make-up tutorials for 10yo. myriads of post-hannah-montana clones twerking to songs about partying through the night.
"cuties" wasn't made by pedophiles for pedophiles. it's made by an african migrant women critizising the sexualization of preteen kids in the western world and how everyone thinks "this is woke, this is great".
another thing why people are mad about it is that the main protagonist is a muslim girl rebelling against their parents and their culture in the most outrageous way possible, pointing the finger on the degenerating power of western liberalism.
be honest, do you think al those 14yo black metal kids back in the 90s where in it for the pleasure of listening to some swedish guy practicing his guitar and screaming in pain? it was provocation, rebellion, doing something you know society will never approve of.
today, it's this. sure, western girls usually don't go down this path since sexuality and erotic isn't a big taboo anymore, but for mena families, it still is, at least for the girls. and that's what the movie is about.
another reason why the critizism of this movie blew way out of proportion (including faking wikipedia entries) was the abysmal marketing netflix did. if you wanna point your fingers on pedos, i guess you should take a closer look at netflix' marketing dept.
last words: i'm also surprised that people shit on the movie based on "omg, sexualized kids!" while going "waow, leon the professional is a masterpiece! and the blue lagoon had so much soul! have you ever seen kids or ken park? now that's relateable, amirite?!"
if you still feel you should block me for not riding on that train, go for it.
ps: do you think all those college girls who register at onlyfans the minute they turned legal for it haven't been groomed to this exact moment for almost a decade by then? y'all shit on this movies aesthetics instead of asking yourself where all of this comes from.
