It's a ****** being an older person in SNP Scotland.
They were terrified in 2014 by unionists turning up on their doorstep to tell them they'd cease to get their UK state pension post-indy. (That much was true though I never saw a *documented* case of it happening)
They were terrified by nationalists wishing death on them (there's still a trickle of similar messages on social media from the genius mathematicians of the movement).
And now they're terrified at the thought of being unable to watch the first minister's daily half-hour (?) broadcast on the covid situation.
A broadcast that increasingly wanders on to any other subject of the day that takes her fancy (and which can usually be summarised in two words - UK bad).
A broadcast that invokes the words 'Scotland ..' when the covid situation is getting better and 'All over the UK ..' when it's getting worse'.
It's as if older people have no access to news on TV (BBC *and* STV, Channel 4, Sky etc.), commercial radio, or national and local papers, where any significant points from her daily event are distilled more objectively.
At best it is a deeply patronising view of older people.
At worst it is a cynical manipulation of people of all ages for political purposes.
For the record, I'm in that group of supposedly terrified older people. I have survived covid so far without once watching the daily broadcast all the way through. It's completely unnecessary.
