Yesterday morning a black indigenous family in N Portland was served an eviction notice, despite moratoriums being extended at least through September. Armed Sheriffs arrived at their home and threatened to break the door in if they weren't allowed in. 1/5 https://twitter.com/BaghdadBrian/status/1304280942861676551
The foreclosure is still being appealed, yet Sheriffs informed Mr. Nietzche and his parents that the eviction was already moving forward. As of this moment the family has been afforded time to move their belongings, but have no place to move. 2/5
Family members are currently staying in a hotel or with friends. Mr. Nietzche expressed appreciation for the renewed activism in Portland and hopes that the community will share his story and remain informed as efforts to save their family home continue. 3/5
According to Mr. Nietzche their case is currently on appeal with the 9th Circuit Court. He says the family has the monies to remain in their home while the action is being appealed, but it appears that Urban Housing Development llc is unwilling to consider this approach. 4/5
This is an evolving story and I will continue to follow it in the coming days. If you have tips or information related to this eviction or others currently in process, my DMs are open. 5/5
