Dear @MetroSchools @buggsforschools @elrodforschools, It’s been 192 days since public school Ss have had access to print materials from @MetroSchools school libraries. For students in East Nashville, that’s 192 days in a book desert. 1/
Sept 21 will be the 1st time students in East Nashville have immediate access to print materials because @NowatNPL will begin offering curbside service at the Inglewood branch. But that’s only if they have transportation. @MetroSchools @buggsforschools @elrodforschools 2/
I understand Ss have access to electronic materials, but how are we modeling & encouraging how to balance screen time if we’re requiring them to learn virtually for 6.5 hrs then expect them to read for leisure in the same manner. @MetroSchools @buggsforschools @elrodforschools 3/
I hope the board & district will consider that many school librarians are eager to get materials to our learners. Please consider how curbside pick-up and bus drop-off w/meals could enrich students’ lives. @MetroSchools @buggsforschools @elrodforschools /4
