Thanks for the question.
A Twitter trend may be demoted from the Trending list if mass reported as Spam.
Most Twitter users don't report trends. Click the arrow mark beside the trend and you will get the option.
Unlike users, Trends get automatically pushed down, if mass reported https://twitter.com/KanchanSinha13/status/1304274763485831168
As per my study, hundreds of handles from Turkey, Bangladesh etc are mass reporting trends on SSR.
Hence, you'll find that few trends are not topping the list despite thousands of organic tweets.
I suspect this is a PR strategy to ensure that SSR doesn't trend everyday on Twitter
The Turkish Twitter bots are notorious across the world for these nefarious activities.
They are a global menace and frequently used to manipulate political Twitter trends.
Turkish bots are also Pakistan's favourite weapon against Indian political leaders https://twitter.com/GreekAnalyst/status/1235660812708130817?s=19
The solution is organic tweets. If you copy each other's tweets and paste it, then Twitter recognises the hashtag trend as Spam.
Write in your own words, use any regional language.
If you are writing in English, don't bother about grammar. The tweet should make sense, that's all.
The effect of this reporting from another country is temporary. Twitter algorithms soon realise that all the reports are coming from one is two particular countries. So it stops the trend in those countries but keeps it up in India.
So keep on tweeting and use your own words
