#WalkAway "I was a Democrat since the day I was born. I never questioned it. I was raised in the hood but my parents were hard working people who instilled manners and work ethic in my siblings and myself. All of my secondary education were from schools smacked right in the 1/
hood and always taught progressive liberal teachings. I always felt there was more to life than being black and dying, so I excelled in my academics; something my family always pushed for. I went to a liberal arts college and the teachings were more liberal and progressive. 2/
I found myself getting lost in the semantics of SJW politics and I was getting angrier by the day. I felt like a victim. I never realized how underprivileged I was until someone else told me. I knew I wasnt as fortunate but not someone was telling me that all of this was by 3/
design and that made me angry. I protested and I marched and I just found my myself becoming overwhelmed. Every other day, there was something else to be upset about. One day, I just decided to not be angry and to focus on my success. I thought to myself, "I want to live my 4/
life on my own terms." That happened in 2012, I voted a second time for Obama but I was officially done with politics. What I didn't realize at the moment, is that I was done with the Democratic party. I was done with the pandering and the promises but I was holding onto hope. 5/
After, another failed 4 year term. I didn't care to be affiliated politically with anyone. I was still registered as a Democrat but I was finding myself not relating to the New Democratic Platform that was becoming overrun by respectability politics. In 2018, I met my bf 6/
(now fiance) and he opened up my eyes to the world of black entrepreneurship. He showed me how there are plenty of Black Americans thriving IN America and have been thriving for generations. It was at that moment, I had to realize that "The Man" was imaginary. An excuse to 7/
continue subpar behavior and mannerisms. An excuse to keep complaining without action. He did something that no one has ever done for me. He took the time to go over our History, American History, the real history. Not this fake history, liberals are trying to spew out. 8/
Nowadays, I'm still not affiliated to the Democratic or the Republican Party but I am a proud Libertarian with conservative values. And I'm proud to be engaged to my Pro-Trump Republican ❤.
