I always dread 9/11.
My mind's eye still sees everything as it played out that terrible day. The fear that filled the air across the nation. How the skies were suddenly devoid of planes. Seeing the images of desperate people looking for their missing people. 1/x

I can still hear the sirens behind the frantic reporters. They were as scared as we all were and no one shouted Fake News at their televisions.
We were all bonded together by an unspeakable tragedy that played out again and again and again and again. 2/x

We didn't know why or who. We didn't know what 9/12 would bring. We only knew that the people around us, our friends and neighbors, were our band of brothers now. That we'd work together to help, to console and protect.

9/11/20 will not be any easier and, I believe, it may be harder than any 9/11 since that date became what it is.

Even as we somberly recall the 2753 that died that day.
We haven't banded together to fight back against this pandemic like the heroes on Flight 93
We're arguing about whether the hijackers exist & if those who die would've survived if they didn't have a preexisting condition5/x

I can still see the images of that terrible day but I also recall the sea of American flags. On that day, there weren't Blue states that deserved to be attacked or Red states that deserved to be attacked.

It was that unity that gave rise to hope in the terrible. It was that unity that gave bravery life and that unity that caused America to stand back up.
