On 9/11, We almost lost Congress for what would’ve been many months at the worst possible time. Tom Mann, @johncfortier1 and formed the Continuity of Government Commission to make sure we could preserve our vital institutions in the event of a catastrophe like a terrorist attack.

Sadly, Congress did virtually nothing to protect Congress, the presidency or the Supreme Court. 19 years later, we are in the process of reconstituting the commission. We need protection against a natural disaster, a pandemic or terrorists.

Let’s hope that next year, policymakers will understand the threats and finally take appropriate actions to give the American people an insurance policy for our constitutional arrangement!
