We spent the week before Labor Day in Michigan. It was terrific. Our girls loved time with family.

My parents have tomatoes growing everywhere. They’re at the point that plants pop up in their flower beds from previous years, and they just leave them. 🍅
My wife and I got some time in the Traverse City area too. A must-visit if you’re headed to MI.

The improvements to 8th Street were great to see. And older gentleman passed us while riding saying “Aren’t these great?! We need these lanes all over the city!”
“The Blocks” initiative in @DowntownTC was terrific and lively, even for the middle of the week. (2 full blocks were closed off on Front Street.) Lots of sidewalk and street dining, with folks riding bikes, scooters and skateboards on the street. It should be seasonal.
There are some terrific facades downtown, as well as a number of parklets right now. The @elgruponorte parklet was a few spaces down from where we ate dinner one night. Of course, sunsets like that make everything more enjoyable.
Of course, we visited our favorite cidery (Tandem Ciders) and one of our favorite wineries ( @VerterraWinery) and added Green Bird Organic Cellars to our list. For those with dietary intolerances: Third Coast Bakery is your spot.
The trip wouldn’t haven been complete without jumping into Lake Michigan. A ride to the end of Old Mission did the trick. 🏊🏼
Water temps were in the mid to upper 60s, so excuse the weak dive in! It was certainly refreshing and a wake up early in the morning.
A few other things about Traverse City: they allow food trucks to park in city parks. Convenient w/ many municipal lots along the shoreline and downtown.

More contemporary buildings being built; the Morgan Farms development has a mix of housing types; new development everywhere!
