The blunt instrument that is the hard border closure @AnnastaciaMP and the QLD CHO are relying on to contain #COVID19 outbreaks is hurting ordinary Queenslanders. Right now, the QLD Govt is letting the virus win through heartache and cruel and inconsistent rules.
This can be said of all states and territories who have closed their borders without any plan to reopen them in a COVIDSafe manner. The question must be asked: do these Premiers, CHOs and experts have no confidence in their health systems to manage the virus?
Managing the virus through consistent hotspot designations, gold-standard contact tracing and a prepared health system will allow Australia to beat the mental anguish, the heartache and the serious economic issues caused by COVID-19.
Why can’t @AnnastaciaMP put the same effort into developing COVIDSafe plans for funerals or health visits as she has for football and the entertainment industry? Why exemptions for some and not others?
Why by her own CHO rules hasn’t the ACT’s hotspot declaration been revoked with 0 community transmission for over 60 days? Using Batemans Bay is a cop out, there hasn’t been community transmission there since 11 Aug (30 days), again, the required timeframe within the CHO’s rules.
Queenslanders – and all Australians – have every right to question why there are inconsistencies, what is the plan and how is the Queensland going to achieve the plan to stop the anguish whilst managing the virus.
