Bastard: The title track is where we get pure 100% Tyler. Introducing the Dr. TC, dissonant piano chords, & Tyler venting about his tortures with his deep ass voice. The part where he says “graduated without honors or a fucking father” was super intense. A perfect 1st portrait!
Goblin: this’ll be my only normie answer but Yonkers just goes so fucking hard. And this is where Tyler as a writer first really struck me as unique. Most of the song is seamlessly written in paradoxes. Fav bar has gotta be the Stevie Wonder line, foreshadowing his softer side.
Wolf: Lone is his best song imo. The storytelling is so heart-wrenching. Him building up the tension of his grandma dying with the music getting tenser with him and it all building to the ending moment when he says “she died that night” rips my heart out! (Btw I LOVE strings🤤)
Cherry Bomb: my fav tyler album. Best moment is in 2Seater when the beat stops the strings come in with the riffing singer girl and he says “sits in my passenger seat” then the sax solo! The strings come from his Hans Zimmer studio sesh and Tyler snapped with the arrangement. 🤤
FB: I trash this album on hht but I do love it actually. How can you not?! Fav moment is in November when everybody is talking about what their “November” is. Makes me appreciate periods of my life, including the time I’d play this album every day for my 1st semester at college
