I saw something the other day that should've been obvious, but it has had me thinking: queer folks writing queer work isn't automatically ownvoices -- for example, a white queer person writing a queer poc main isn't exactly ownvoices.

There's a lot of racism in LGBTQIA+ spaces.
There is also a lot of transphobia in the LGBTQIA+ community. A cis queer person writing a trans queer person is not ownvoices, either.

It has made me think more about whether or not I use ownvoices and for which comics.
I am more likely to trust queer work by queer people, whether it is ownvoices or not! I think it's a little less likely to surprise me in a bad way. But I think those are things worth thinking about.
Here is the tweet I have been thinking about -- this is a good thread, so fellow white queer creatives, please read: https://twitter.com/AshiaMonet/status/1300423196483760130
