I already retweeted this story once but it is AMAZING how little imagination Americans have, how little concept of the possibility that government could actually ... help out? if there was the slightest political will to do so? https://twitter.com/AidanSmith2020/status/1304143224391360512
Universal health care, UBI, rent and mortgage moratoriums ... but nah we got a one time $1200 payout
we are in the middle of an unprecedented society-changing crisis and people got some table scraps to tide them over for a little while
we're really not going to have a vaccine by Nov 3, everyone understands this. we're in this for a long haul, and it would be nice to have a functioning society when we come out the other side.
I mean, to the extent that you can call this a functioning society now, I understand.
Americans can't even comprehend the possibility of demanding this sort of action
