Every community in the state can tick into the red. I fully expect Somerville will. Our latest: testing more than doubled, incidence rate up, positivity rate down. Local leaders should welcome that. We need to catch EVERY positive case. 1/ https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/09/09/metro/dedham-schools-postpone-return-classroom-after-town-designated-high-risk-covid-19/
The state color-coded map creates the wrong incentives. Rewards for testing less when what we need is more testing. Worst thing for our public health response is unidentified positive cases. Can't trace or isolate them. If people have contracted the disease, we need to know 2/
COVID doesn't recognize city lines. Everett, Chelsea, Revere & Winthrop are all in the red near us. We share our neighbor's problems when it comes to infectious disease. Any sober reading of E. Mass data is COVID is prevalent & liable to pop up anywhere. 3/
We need to learn to embrace the positive cases b/c only visibility into the problem will allow us to address it. Ignorance is the enemy here. Dedham got important information and responded to it. That's how it's supposed to work & we all should be seeking that information. 4/
