So here is the last thing I am going to say about cuties having finally seen some of the scenes.

In the absolute BEST interpretation, in trying to rail against the sexualizing force of social media, she exploited children in a way FAR more egregious than what she was against
The story is supposed to be about little girls finding videos and on their own deciding to try and mimic these dance moves. And yet, to tell this story these girls were coached, trained and performed these moves for a world wide audience.
Taking the director at her word that this was her intent, applying maximal charity, she missed her mark by a few galaxies and sexualized/exploited these children in a way far more egregious than even the worst beauty pageants I have ever seen.
Even if it was meant for shock value, it is gratuitous and the long lingering camera on little girls mimicking sexual positions is entirely unnecessary for the story. And once again, she goes FAR past the form of sexualization she supposedly is trying to rail against.
