Tarot is one of the most disrespected and misused spiritual tools out there and it’s sad to see.
A lot of people are very comfortable using Tarot in a gimmicky and unethical way.
You have people who buy Tarot cards, look up definitions for 2-3 weeks on google, then start offering PROFESSIONAL services to people immediately after those short few weeks without practice or energetic understanding.
Some people do this because they are eager to go out there and help people with the little they've learned and their heart is pure, but most people do this because of MONEY.
Let's be real, there is MONEY in Tarot, Astrology, Spirituality/Spiritual guidance services.

Divination/spirituality is a BILLION dollar industry and people (whether they are good at what they do or not) can make a great living and become very financially stable from it.
People are aware of the money in it, so they use Tarot as a fast money scheme and start offerings services ASAP after a week or 2! Not only is this wrong but its playing with people's lives.
There is enough controversy around Tarot already so when someone who is not prepared, reads cards in a dictionary/textbook way, and gives people guidance that can affect their lives it becomes dangerous and gives Tarot an even worse reputation.
There is NOTHING wrong with accepting money in exchange for spiritual services because this is very draining work that takes a lot out of a spiritualist’s energy. There is EVERYTHING wrong with abusing spirituality and doing it solely for money and not knowing what you're doing.
The beauty of Tarot is that anyone can learn it if they are open and take time but not everyone can/should read Tarot professionally.
In my opinion, the shortest amount of time someone should take before they start reading professionally is 3-6 months with practice on others, accuracy, their own independent energetic understanding of the cards, and feeling ready and called to do it. Standard is 7-12 months.
Trust me, it doesn't matter how much money you make. If you don't truly feel connected/invested in your understanding and relationship with Tarot it will drain you and you'll quit early. So it's important to make sure you are passionate about this or you can hurt yourself/others.
Yes, Tarot cards are just cards, but the art of reading/interpreting Tarot is spiritual work. So therefore you are doing something not according to human understanding/knowledge and if you aren't careful something can go very wrong especially if you lie/scam people.
You must have an energetic reset or a way to spiritually protect/align yourself and you must take breaks to be refreshed. When I first started, I paced myself but then I made the mistake of doing too many readings a day. Now? I take my breaks.
In every community, there are bad apples and scammers. In the spiritual community especially with Tarot it's too common.
- There are readers that are very comfortable charging someone for a detailed reading and sending them a one sentence response.

- There are readers comfortable with taking people's money and never delivering a service then blocking them.
- There are readers that mock and demean their clients and people who trust them for guidance

- There are non-reading ass readers who will show someone the 3 of swords & 7 of swords and tell someone they are dealing with their soulmate and to ”wait for them to change”
- There are readers who are toxicly positive and will hide the fact they are seeing a negative outcome and give false hope.

This is a few of many examples.
Tricking the people who trust and PAY you to use your gift to help them? It's more than fucked up and the karma will be ENORMOUS.
A lot of the things I mentioned are so normalized that someone speaking up about it is considered gatekeeping and bullying. This is just my opinion and the things I've observed after a year and some change doing this.
