Here's a quick thread on why the @SenateDems and @SpeakerPelosi were exactly right not to cave on @seantemajleader's pathetic "stimulus" bill.

It's a wet blanket on a freezing night. It might look good to some desperate people, but it was dangerous and would make things worse.
This bill was a political stunt from McConnell to make it appear he was FINALLY doing something, when his whole brand is doing nothing.

It's part of the Trump/GOP pandemic failure, which has been so poorly managed that we need a much bigger bill than this pot of cabbage soup.
🤮The bill only offered $300 in extended unemployment, half of what those out of work need.
🤮It allowed SOME small businesses to apply for paycheck protection *loans* not *grants*. And not all businesses.
🤮It offered no food assistance to poor children
🤮The McConnell GOP bill offered no eviction protection and no plan to keep people from losing their homes, leaving landlords, renters, and mortgage holders in a desperate situation as the crisis worsens leading into winter.

🤮It had no aid for state and local governments.
2/3 of the educational assistance it offered was earmarked ONLY for schools who GO BACK IN PERSON, actually worsening the pandemic and putting kids, teachers, and families at risk

These are ACTUAL PAYMENTS TO MAKE PEOPLE SICKER AND SPREAD COVID.
There is no way this bill SHOULD have become law, and it's damned shameful that @senatemajldr and the cowardly and desperate @SenateGOP are even trying to claim that this was a worthwhile endeavor. They may as well have called it the VILLAINS act.

END.
ADDITION - it also offered no actual stimulus payment to Americans. It would not have stimulated the failing Trump/McConnell economy one tiny bit.
