Everyone has the right to be closeted, to be safe, to come out, to have your own LGBTQ+ experience. But we should also be uplifting those who were brave enough to come out - despite negative consequences. Those who have the courage and feel safe enough to be out.
But not everyone has the financial stability, a supportive group, or the ability to come out. That’s why it’s so incredibly important that those of us who are in a position where we can come out - and want to - DO.
Having more queer people who are out, successful in their careers, happy in their lives prove to those who are doubtful of our community that we can thrive and have been. That being gay is something to be proud of, something that we don’t need to hide.
Those of us who can come out safely and want to can help give courage to those in the LGBTQ+ community who currently can’t come out for whatever reason.
