Horrified to see Skip Bayless' comments about Dak Prescott's grief and depression following his brother's suicide. He clearly misunderstands depression, but he also misunderstands leadership. Prescott *is* being a leader by showing his vulnerability, in my opinion.
As many of you know, I have a long history with clinical depression. My first diagnosis was at age 10. I'm 30 now. I have multiple weeks/months-long depressive episodes every year. I've learned to manage it fairly well thanks to experience (and medication), but it gets very bad.
Sports media's worst half-wit earned a paycheck today by doubting the legitimacy of Dak Prescott's depression after a personal tragedy. It is honestly *amazing* to me that the QB for the Cowboys would even feel like he could admit that publicly.
I'd like to say it doesn't matter what Bayless said, but it does. I feel fortunate to be secure about my battles with depression, but I know that many are not. If it is hard to see an overpaid loser say that mental health issues and vulnerability make you weak, know he's wrong.
One last thing, my journey with medication now spans 20 years. They put me on Zoloft at age 10! (No!) I now take Wellbutrin for my overall mood, gabapentin for anxiety, and Vyvanse for ADHD (which I was in denial about until Jan 2020). The process sucks, but can be worth it.
