I really want to dead the mandatory “video” in zoom meetings

“We really encourage you to turn on your camera so we can see your beautiful faces”

No. We are in the middle of a pandemic. Can we stop being force to perform for 5 seconds?
I’m personally resisting this little by little at work.

Maybe I’m wearing a t-shirt and basketball shorts right now and I don’t want y’all seeing me

Maybe ppl have kids or crowded homes and it’s none of your business to see that
When creating policies/rules: there should be a point when people ask is this rule to control people or is this to help people?

How does pressuring people to show their faces on video make them better students/workers?

What are other ways you can boost engagement/motivation? https://twitter.com/queeringpsych/status/1121078188011139073
Exactly. Something feels weird to me that my job can just suddenly decide we’re having a meeting in 24 hours & decide I should show my face.

Seeing my face won’t make the pandemic go away. It won’t make y’all feel “normal”. Let me live however I need to live to survive all this https://twitter.com/hey_ashb/status/1304137568154521602
Genius!!! I forgot I could do this. I’m dialing in next time to see what they do at my job.

I imagine my supervisor is going to bring this up during my supervision.

It’s really frustrating to be doing sessions all day and still be forced to perform like this https://twitter.com/iamstarstrucker/status/1304140693422706693
It’s interesting that no one asked the workers the kinds of support we need to keep the workplace going

Or what we need to feel supported or to boost morale in the company

I promise if you asked, very few would have said being mandated to show our faces at every virtual meeting
This is short term, superficial thinking. The focus is always how can we get back to normal or perform normalcy

And not, how can we make this situation as sustainable, healthy, & manageable for ppl as possible? How can we make folks as supported as possible for the long haul?
