If you’re in the Ann Arbor area, you can join us on the picket lines. Otherwise, you can picket remotely — sign up at http://bit.ly/GEOpicket .
What does remote picketing entail? It’s a zoom room where you can meet allies and friends who will encourage and cheerlead you as you make phone calls, send emails, make tweet threads, and spread the word. People also show off their pets and babies.
Even if you can’t make it to a remote picket, you can still get involved. Here on Twitter you can use the hashtags #StrikeForSafeCampus and #UMMakesUsSick. Tweet at your friends and followers to let them know about the situation.
You can also make phone calls. We're trying to fill the voicemails of the President and Regents of the University. Tell them to listen to GEO's demands and give workers like the RAs the safety protections they deserve. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1silICdIsDaQS8d-AUiYjSwZ5WWXiRPQowL39gNHX2cw/edit
This school cares a lot about its image and reputation, so it means something if people even outside the community are telling them that what they are doing is wrong. It means something if they realize how much they're damaging their reputation.
Tell them that they are threatening the lives of working undergraduates like the RAs. Tell them they are endangering their Black students and community members. Tell them they are treating the people who make this university run as if they're disposable.
Also, remember that you can always always always contribute to us financially. We're facing a potential legal reprisal for our (incredibly brave!) decision to keep this strike going, so every dollar counts. https://www.geo3550.org/join-us/contribute/
I'll leave you with the @UMResstaff linktree, which I encourage you to peruse to better support these inspiring students: https://linktr.ee/umichresstaffreform.
