This is my “Why you should watch Gintama” thread. Please share this to anyone who may be interested in the series. If you yourself have not experienced the series, welcome and enjoy reading this! I will try to make this non-spoilery as possible.
The series takes place in feudal Japan where the Amanto, aliens from outer space, have invaded the earth and have settled there. As a result, a prohibition of swords had been established and samurais are neglected.
However, the main character, Gintoki Sakata, is a person who loves sweets and is a samurai at heart, but now dabbles in work as a Yorozuya (A jack of all trades).
Along with him are his partners in the Yorozuya! Shinpachi Shimura, a boy with glasses who is considered the straight man of the series, Kagura a young lady who loves food and always brings an umbrella with her, as well a Sadaharu, an oversized dog that lives with them!
Living life as the Yorozuya, however, can be pretty hectic! They frequently have run-ins with the police, rebels, assassins, different types of amanto, and even old friends and enemies. Some of these jobs can also lead to humorous but tragic events.
Gintama is an adventure comedy science fiction series that aims towards the shounen genre. The series even parodies many other series, so if you’re a shounen fan, Gintama might be the series for you!
The series has many amazing characters! Some of these characters include robots, homeless men, cabaret girls, amanto, rōnin, terrorists, policemen, and so much more! I’m sure there will be at least one character you’ll connect with a lot throughout the series!
There comes some times where things get a bit more serious. That’s right, there are serious arcs in the series. These serious arcs may be related to some of the characters pasts or more recent encounters. I won’t go too in depth with the concept, so you’ll have to watch the show.
And with that, that’s some information for you about the series. There’s a lot of stuff to say about the series, but there’s so much that it’s just better for you to experience it yourself! A lot of fun awaits when you’re watching the show and many things await to be uncovered!
The manga is completed, so a lot of the series has been adapted. If you’re wondering how well the series is adapted, I would say the adaptation for the series is pretty well done! It’s not HxH levels of adaptation, but Gintama can go above and beyond expectations for sure.
Well, that’s the end of this “Why you should watch Gintama” thread! Thank you for reading this whether you’re a person who is interested in Gintama or a person who’s a big fan and was curious! I love this community so much so I wanted to do a little something to help. See ya! ❤️
