I watched the clip from "cuties"
the dancing is, inappropriate to say the least.
but it appears the film makers feel the same way?
check out this reaction clip from WITHIN the movie:

From the film maker:
""And after that, they will see that we have the same fight and we are all together about that issue of hyper sexualization of our children and protect our children.""

I haven't watched it, and probably won't - but this more nuanced (shocker) than social media is making it out to be.
Sophisticated critical art often leaves interpretation up to the viewer...assuming the viewers are mature enough to have an opinion. https://www.npr.org/2020/09/06/909753465/cuties-calls-out-the-hypersexualization-of-young-girls-and-gets-criticized

Netflix failed with its marketing big time obviously.
Instead of showing the girls in glitzy dancing costumes, they should have shown them crying or being distraught.
what's the movie rated?

if you're incapable of having a mature conversation about this topic, ie. examining it from a few different angles...please kindly fuck right off!
the film is rated MA - Mature.
it won't show up on your kid's netflix profile.
it's caused us all to place extra attention on the exploitation of children in our culture.
i'm not defending the film per se, because I haven't seen it, but this was the maker's stated intent.

So I just watched one of the alleged outrageous scenes.
the main girl pulls down her pants, takes a pic of her vagina area, and publishes it publicly.
there's nothing graphic, you see no nudity at all, it's a depiction in a MA movie. the actress was not nude.

and the reaction from everyone was appropriate. outrage, mockery, etc. her actions were not shown positively. and the actress didn't "Do it"
interestingly, one of the movie's subplots is a critique of polyamory.
I watched the "bare breast" scene
it's not the child actors
its young women dancers they're watching on their phone.
i'm SHOCKED to see that this was lied about. /s
